I know, I know... I’ve been MIA lately! Life is just too busy. I am going to get back to posting!! Just wanted to share some photos from the past month. 

We went to visit my parents over the July 4th Holiday. We had a great time! 

Enjoy the photos. I have a ton more to share, but here are just a few to start with. 

We took some family photos. It was so hot, and Mace wasn't too happy. But we got some good shots. These were taken with my camera. Audrey took the "official" photos, and I can't wait to see how they turned out.

Swap Party

Catching up on my blog reading today, I stumbled across www.swapaholics.com. As much as I love thrift shopping, I can’t believe I have never come across this before.  The girls over at Swapaholics hosted a Swap Party in Austin, Tx back in march. From my research, I didn’t find any information on any Swaps having been or to be held here in our area. 

The more I read today, I thought “Why couldn’t I host one for all of my friends here in Houston!?!” As much as all of my friends love fashion, I think it would be fun to host a swap party!!  Also, what a great way to save money and get some great new additions to your wardrobe. 

Would anyone be interested? 

If so, I will start working on organizing a swap Party. Not only would it be a great time to socialize but, you’d also get to leave with fabulous new clothes, shoes and accessories, without the cost of a day of shopping. 

Basic Concept: Bring a bag of clothing, shoes and/or accessories, leave with a bag of clothes, shoes and/or accessories. If you only bring 5 items, you still get to fill your bag as full as you can get it.

My inspiration today!

For a year now, I have driven by this door step on my way to work and admired it! It is on the front of a beautiful brick building on Austin Street, Downtown Houston. Day after day, I say, "One day I am going to take a picture of that door!"
Today I was a little early, so I decided to stop and take a picture! Finally! It is so beautiful! I love how even something as simple as a beautiful door step makes you thankful for the many many blessings of God!!

Being a mom, wife and cook

I never imagined trying to balance being a mom, a wife, full-time employee and housekeeper/cook would be so hard. I always imagine how things are going to go when I get home from work… I will cook this awesome meal, do five loads of laundry, play with the baby, give myself a manicure, unpack 10 boxes, and then go to bed. Ha-ha. Nice dream, huh?

By the time I drag myself in the door from work, around six, the only thought on my mind … laying down in my bed and sleeping for 24 hours. I start letting myself get overwhelmed and worked up when I think about everything that needs to be done and give myself a hard time, when I don’t accomplish everything I had planned to. I am realizing that it is ok, if I don’t do the 100 things that are on my list, in one night. My number one problem is this: if I sit down when I walk in the door, I WILL NOT, get up the rest of the evening. Since I had Macelyn, cooking has flown out the window. I just don’t have the energy. But in an effort to save money and be frugal, I am determined to get past this foggy feeling and get back into the habit of cooking.

Start small, I’m telling myself. So goal number 1, do not sit down when I get home. Goal number 2, only complete one or two tasks per evening, save the big stuff for the weekend.

My big goal for this week… planning out a menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, preparing breakfast and lunch the night before, and cooking dinner every night. I feel like if I can get organized in this area, it might help everything else fall into place. I made my list for the next two weeks, and went to H-E-B last night. I have lots of healthy and delicious meals planned and am excited to get back into the routine of cooking again.

I found a new app on my iPhone that has a ton of really good recipes. I’m excited to try some new combinations. I’ll keep you all posted on how they turn out.
